Toy Story
During September and October our first topic in Primary 3 was 'Toy Story'. We explored how toys have changed through time and we thought about how they toys that we played with at different ages changed. We really enjoyed developing our thinking skills during this topic and were able to compare and contrast old and new toys. We used our observations to think about things that were the same and different between the toys. We even designed, sewed and decorated our own hand puppet toys!
In Literacy we have been developing our writing especially through recounting stories. We listened to lots of stories about toys, and we were able to recount the beginning, middle and end of the stories. We also linked our work in Numeracy as we were able to measure using non-standard units. We had great fun measuring the length and weight of the toys.
Each week we visit the computer suite and we have been learning how to use the program 'Microsoft word' to word process. We created toy fact files by inserting text, pictures and borders. We are also able to change the size and font in our work. We are so proud of our completed fact files!
We have really enjoyed this topic and we will keep you up to date with our next topic 'Let's Celebrate!'.
